Thank you to all the competitors for making it fantastic weekend and all those who volunteered to help run the event, both on and off the water.  The LHRW committee are already discussing ideas for next years event, but if you would like to put forward a suggestion for how to make the event better, please email with your ideas.  The tides for both May Bank holiday weekends are looking impractical to run the event, so we are likely to be looking to host the event over a two day weekend instead.  If you are interested in hosting a class open meeting during the 2018 LHRW, please email the committee as soon as possible with your request.  The final results for 2017 are below, along with a link to the photos taken on day 1.  Please feel free to download the photos and use them in your class reports, or to hang on your wall, but it would be appreciated if you credit Will Stokely, Tudor SC sailing secretary and photographer against any published photo.

Hope to see you all back next year for our 10th anniversary event.

Langstone Harbour Race Weekend – Regatta Tracking

This year, the LHRW will include the option for competitors to race with GPS tracking. This is a completely free service, provided by RaceQ’s and should enhance the racing experience over the weekend. Re-live those pivotal moments during the racing, find out where the battles were won and lost and clock your top speed over the weekend.

All you need is a smart phone, and the RaceQ’s app…. oh, and a dry bag to put it in!

To sign up for this free service, visit the RaceQ’s website to set-up your sailor profile and learn how to track your racing.

All successfully tracked entrants will be able review their races against other competitors.

Vago fleet set for Langstone Harbour Race Weekend

For those who have not entered LHRW before, the event is hosted by three sailing clubs which share the waters of Langstone Harbour; Locks SC, Langstone SC and Tudor SC. Each of the 3 days will see a series of handicap and class races for fast & medium fleets. The event organisers are very pleased to be welcoming the Wanderer Class to the event again this year for their national championships, and also welcome the 4000, Buzz and ISO classes who have added the event to their respective circuits.

This year the race program will follow a new 6 race format with two races per day using simple sausage / triangle / trapezoid courses.

It’s not just about racing!

Each club hosts a social event over the weekend (included in the entry fee) and there is something to suit everyone’s tastes. Friday evening Tudor SC will start the weekend off with registration and a briefing before laying on a curry night with video and photo show from previous years. Locks SC follow on Saturday evening with a BBQ and Langstone SC take their turn on Sunday night with food and pub quiz. The weekend is rounded off on Monday afternoon with afternoon tea and prize giving ceremony at Tudor SC.

The event enjoys entries of 60+ boats, with a cap of 100 boats placed on the event. Entry Fees for Weekend (including 3 evening socials and tea on Monday):

  • £40 Double-hander
  • £30 Single–hander

Vago class association members are eligible for discounted entry fees. Fee with discount will be £34 / £24. To receive the discount Vago owners must have joined the association at least 48 hours prior to the event taking place.

Langstone SC are offering FREE camping to competitors, but have asked all campers to pre-book via the online registration form or by mailing a paper copy in advance. A breakfast galley service is also offered at Tudor SC on all three days prior to racing.

The NOR and online entry is now available from the event website, and why not come and have a look at our facebook page to be kept up to date.
